The road to the continental cup glory in the CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations has begun in style, with Ivory Coast lighting up the continent by securing a 6-1 victory over Central Africa Republic in group D.
Ivory Coast ‘s star boy, Haidara Alynho displayed a masterclass performance against Central Africa Republic, by scoring four goals to give his side a massive win.
The Ivorian was named the player of the match after his sensational performance.
In another fixtures in group C, defending champions Senegal secured a 1-0 victory against Gambia while Tunisia effortlessly defeated Somalia 3-0.
In Group D, Mali secured a 2-1 victory against Angola.
According to CAF, the 16-team tournament will now be broadcast across Africa and beyond, with coverage provided by Morocco’s SNRT (Arryadia TV), Canal+, BeIN Sport, and globally via IMG after major television outlets failed to broadcast
“ AFCON U17 will be broadcast across the African continent and beyond, providing fans with the opportunity to see the stars of tomorrow in action,” CAF stated.
The 16 teams will be vying for Africa glory and the added incentive of securing spots at the FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Qatar which is set to take place later this year.
