Police in the country continue to fight illegal drug possession and trafficking which is becoming rampant at the port of entry and the latest bust up has Melani Nkomo aged 43 arrested at Malume Shed, Beitbridge Border Post.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police Nkomo was arrested while driving a Toyota Quantum vehicle.
The vehicle was searched, leading to the recovery of 12 cobs of dagga weighing 24 kilograms, leading to his arrest on charges of unlawful possession of cannabis.
In a separate incident on August 1, 2025, officers in Budiriro, Harare, responded to a tip-off and apprehended Rozah Katumaringa (56) for possessing 4.6 kilograms of dagga.
The police searched her residence in Budiriro 1, where they found the narcotics packed in nine black plastic packets.
Additionally, on the same day in Highglen, Harare, ZRP Southerton officers arrested 28-year-old Admire Kwashiwa after discovering 249 bottles of 100ml Broncoer syrup in his possession.
The arrests is testament to the police’s commitment to deal with the drug scourge bedevilling the country.
