The Beitbridge Civil’ Court granted a protection against a man who abused his mother telling her she has enlarged private parts.

Hlupani Moyo was accused of this and other insults and abusive behaviour to his mother Niyambani Moyo who approached the Civil courts in search of peace.

Hlupani was also accused of repeatedly harassing and assaulting his mother while in hs runken stupor.

Niyambani Moyo, appeared before Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni on Thursday seeking protection from Hlupani she said had been tormenting her at their rural homestead.

Niyambani told the court that she is currently caring for her grandchildren whose parents have passed away.

She said Hlupani had been demanding that she send the children away to their late father’s relatives because the grandchildren were her daughter’s children.

“He is always chasing me from the homestead and when he is drunk he assaults me,” she said.

Niyambani also said her son made disturbing claims about medication she and her husband are taking, alleging it was causing their private parts to enlarge, accusations she described as troubling and abusive.

Fearing for her safety and the well-being of the children under her care, she sought the court’s intervention, asking that Hlupani be stopped from harassing and threatening her and instead make peace with her.

When given the opportunity to respond, Hlupani Moyo told the court he had no objection to the application.

Kaweni granted a protection order, barring Hlupani from assaulting, harassing, intimidating, or disturbing his mother.

The order will remain in force for a period of five years.
