Beitbridge-The heat is turning up in the Central Region Soccer League, and this weekend had it all, goals, pitch invasions, controversy as teams fight for the sole coveted ticket to be among among the elite of Zimbabwean football.

Dulibadzimu United made light work of basement side Black Eagles, winning by three unanswered goals courtesy of a hattrick by Messi Gushero. The young man shone after missing a glut of chances when his side drew 1 all with Gokwe North in last round of matches.

The three goals all scored in the first 22 minutes of the game, snuffed the sting out of the bullish Black Eagles who had promised to give their much fancied opponents a good run for their money. But alas it was not to be as they went back empty handed. The win propels Dulibadzimu United into 4th position, 7 points adrift of log leaders Kwekwe United.

There was controversy in the match won by Kwekwe United as they dispatched Beitbridge FC by three goals to nil. There was a pitch invasion as that led to the halt in play after the host scored breaching their resolute opponents’ in the last ten minutes of the game. During the invasion, the one supporter is alleged to have assaulted the Beitbridge FC goalkeeper.

Elsewhere, Tongogara made lightweight of the students MSU, while West Nicholson deflated the Sheasham bubble beating the title contenders by three goals to two.

It was a weekend of controversy indeed as Dinson edged Gokwe North by 2-1 with one of the Dinson goals alleged to have gone through the side netting into the net.Gokwe North left Mvuma sulking and as if that was not enough, financially struggling FC Wangu Mazodze City did n0t turn up for their match against Bishopstone resulting in a walk over by a three nil score line .
