PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday, marking the official opening of the Third Session of the 10th Parliament of Zimbabwe.

The SONA, to be held at the New Parliament Building in Mount Hampden, will set the tone for the government’s legislative agenda and economic priorities for the coming year.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tsitsi Gezi announced the upcoming event in the National Assembly last week Thursday.

“I have to inform the House that His Excellency, the President Dr. E. D. Mnangagwa, will deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) to mark the official opening of the third session of the Tenth Parliament on Tuesday, 28th October at 1400 hours,” Gezi said.

And on a post made by @ParliamentZim on X formerly Twitter, both Houses of Parliament, the National Assembly and the Senate will convene jointly for the occasion.

” In terms of Section 140 (1) and Section 140 (4) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Dr. E. D. Mnangagwa, will address a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament, deliver a State of the Nation Address and open the Third Session of the Tenth Parliament of Zimbabwe.

The State of the Nation Address is constitutionally mandated, serving as a platform for the Head of State to communicate government priorities and engage the nation on the country’s socio-economic direction.
