In his first game back in the South African elite soccer league as Cape Town City’s interim coach Muhshin  Ertugral led his charges to a one nil win against  his former side Kaizer Chiefs.

Cape Town City forward Darwin Gonzalez ‘s 51 minute goal secured a memorable debut victory for Ertugal against the Soweto giants,in what could be  a turnaround for Cape Town City.  The Cape side  has struggled under the stewardship of Eric Tinkler, leading to his demise, leaving room for the appointment of Ertugal as the interim head coach.

The former Kaiser Chiefs gaffer  showcased his exceptional vision and strategies by exposing the Soweto giants’ inability to effectively defend rapid counter attacks as displayed by Thabo Nodada‘s counter perfect pass to Gonzalez who effortlessly found the back of the net.

The victory against Amakhosi become City ‘s fourth win in 11 games which see them  in 11th place with 14 points. Meanwhile Amakhosi remained on 15 points in  seventh spot in the Betway Premiership league.

After a number of short stints in other countries like DR Congo,the Turk  took over Kaizer Chiefs in 1999 as his first job in South Africa before taking Ajax Cape Town to ABSA Cup glory with a 2-0 victory against league champions Mamelodi Sundowns in 2007.Fast forward 2025 ,he is back at the helm of the Capetown based club.
