Controversial Zanu PF politician and former legislator Dexter Nduna was remanded in custody on Saturday after being arrested for illegally collecting parking fees from motorists in Chegutu.

The former Chegutu West MP appeared before a magistrate, facing charges of fraud.

During the proceedings, Nduna was accused of misleading motorists by claiming that Team Chapter, a company linked to him, was authorized to collect vehicle parking fees in the town. The court has postponed the bail ruling until Tuesday.

This incident follows recent allegations that Nduna duped unemployed youths into paying fees with false promises of training and recruitment as vehicle parking marshals.

Nduna has a history of controversy, having previously faced accusations of manipulative behavior to achieve his goals.

Recently, he made headlines for gate-crashing a University of Zimbabwe graduation ceremony, wearing a gown despite knowing he had failed several modules in his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program.

In 2018, Nduna was sworn in as a lawmaker and enjoyed the benefits of being an elected official, even though official results from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission indicated he had lost to his opponent, Gift Konjana.
