The agent for Victor Osimhen has subtly hit back at Napoli for wanting to force his client to accept a move to the Saudi Pro League as the Italian side desperately seek to remove the Nigerian off its wage bill.
Napoli had given Osimhen an improved offer last time with the hope of tying him down and cash in for the striker who was in demand at the time. Fast forward to the 2024/25 season, they want him out and it seems very few takers are available in Europe due to Nigerian’s wages reported to be hitting up to half a million Euros a week.
French side PSG were very much interested but negotiations hit a brick wall, Chelsea were reported to be interested too but the interest has cooled down though not out completely leaving the only realistic destination for Osimhen being the Saudi Pro League as they can afford his high wages and pay Napoli their asking price.
Rorberto Calenda, has moved in to protect his client, demanding some “respect” for Osimhen amid the Saudi Pro league reports awash in the media.
“Victor is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets, Victor still has so much to do in Europe”.
Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction”. He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club’s decisions. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, 8th at the Ballon d’Or. There is need for respect and balance, said Calenda
With Europe’s transfer deadline fast approaching, it remains to be seen where the Napoli and Nigerian striker will land. With his agent seemingly shutting the Saudi door, he might as well be at Napoli where he is unwanted if no offer materialise in Europe.
