Polokwane, Limpopo – In a significant blow to crime, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo has concluded a successful week-long operation, resulting in the arrest of 957 suspects, including over 400 undocumented foreign nationals.

The high-density operation, which took place from July 29 to August 4, 2024, saw police officers conduct raids on crime hotspots, trace wanted suspects, and set up roadblocks and stop-and-search operations across the province.

The arrested suspects face a range of charges, including murder, attempted murder, car-jacking, undocumented immigration, drug-related offenses, theft, robbery, assault, and rape.

In addition to the arrests, police also confiscated various types of drugs, including dagga, heroin, and nyaope, as well as counterfeit goods and suspected stolen properties.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the role players involved in the operation and thanked the public for their support and cooperation. She encouraged continued collaboration to combat crime in the province.
