Pope Francis, affectionately called “Lolo Kiko” by Filipino devotees, has passed away at the age of 88.

The first pontiff from Latin America, he was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Over his 12-year reign, he championed messages of mercy for marginalized communities, overhauled the Vatican’s administrative structures, and consistently denounced conflicts worldwide while advocating for peace and social justice.
