The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has fined Herentals FC US$5,000 and imposed indefinite bans on two of the club’s security officials following acts of violence during a league match.
In a statement released on 29 October 2025, PSL Communications and Media Liaison Officer Kudzai Bare confirmed that Herentals FC pleaded guilty to breaching league rules after two security officials were involved in separate assaults at Rufaro Stadium on 13 September 2025, following a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Caps United.
“One of the Herentals security officials assaulted a football fan in the VIP area, while another attacked a police officer after an arrest for violence,” Bare said.
The PSL Disciplinary Committee expressed concern over Herentals’ repeated appearances before it for violent conduct.
“The committee noted that Herentals FC has become a repeat offender, and previous sanctions have not been effective in curbing misconduct, particularly by the same individuals, Paradzai Afa and Tairos Ngoma,” Bare said.
As part of the ruling, Herentals FC will pay a US$5,000 fine, while Afa and Ngoma are banned indefinitely from attending PSL matches in any official or security capacity.
The sanctions take immediate effect and will apply to Herentals’ next fixture against Yadah FC.
Bare said the league will not tolerate violence or indiscipline in football.
“The PSL reiterates its commitment to upholding safety and security in the game. Clubs are urged to ensure that their officials and security personnel conduct themselves professionally and in line with PSL Rules and Regulations.”
The latest sanctions serve as a warning to all clubs to maintain order and accountability, as the league intensifies efforts to protect the integrity of Zimbabwean football.
