The Southern African Development Community Heads of State are set to have a virtual meeting tomorrow discuss the security situation in the eastern DR Congo.

In a statement, the SADC Secretariat highlighted that the Chairperson of SADC and Zimbabwean President H.E E D Mnangagwa will chair the virtual summit.

“The Southern African Development Community (SADC) will hold an Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government on 13th March 2025 in a virtual format to discuss the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His excellency Emerson D Mnangagwa the Chairperson of SADC will chair the virtual summit,” stated SADC in the statement.

In this virtual summit, the heads of state will also receive updates on the latest security situation in DR Congo and deliberate recommendations from the SADC Troika Summit that was conducted on March 6.

This meeting comes as part of a series of meetings which are meant to resolve the conflict in the eastern part of the DR Congo.
