SEVERAL Beitbridge residents have reported facing challenges recharging their electricity due what the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority said was “intermittent third party vending system challenges”.
People struggled to juice up using their mobile phones financial transfer systems but faced difficulties while some could “just manage”.
In a statement yesterday Zesa apologised for the challenges and said efforts were afoot to correct the challenge.
“ZESA (Private) Limited would like to apologise for the intermittent challenges some of our valued customers are experiencing when purchasing electricity tokens through third-party vending platforms.”
“Our technical teams are working tirelessly to resolve the issue in the shortest possible time. In the meantime, customers can purchase electricity tokens at their nearest ZESA Banking Hall The inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted,” Zesa said.
Investigations by Ziyah News Network showed the challenges were far and wide with some subscribers from as far as Bulawayo affected.
“We understand it is a problem in the region,” said a Zesa worker who asked for anonymity.
