A scorned Beitbridge man has been bared from hurling insults to his ex-lover who is his neighbour.
The Beitbridge Civil Court granted a peace order against Kundai Mukano of repeatedly insulting Gloria Chindanda and her children.
Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni, presiding, was on Thursday approached by Chindanda seeking protection from her neighbour and ex.
Chindanda, told the court that Mukano, had been verbally abusing her and her children using vulgar language.
She said the harassment followed the breakdown of their previous romantic relationship.
Chindanda further alleged that Mukano made hurtful remarks about her one-year-old child, claiming the child was HIV/AIDS positive, and threatened to assault her.
“We were once in love but now he insults me and my children using vulgar language. He even said my one-year-old child is positive and threatens to beat me,” Chindanda told the court.
She added that although they are no longer together, they remain neighbours.
Mukano denied the allegations but indicated he had no objection to the court granting the peace order.
Kaweni asked the Mukano if he would have any problem complying with an order requiring him to stop insulting or threatening Chindanda.
Mukono responded that he had no objection.
The court subsequently granted a peace order by consent, barring Mukano from insulting Chindanda, threatening or using violence against her, or publicising the health status of her children.
The order will remain in force for a period of five years.
