The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a 40-year-old man, Jealous Mafuwa linked to a series of armed robberies and murder casesincluding one where $150 000 was stolen.

In another attack a service station manager was shot and killednduring a robbery.

These occurred between May 2024 and October 2025 in Mashonaland Central Province and surrounding areas.

In a statement on Friday , Police Commissioner Paul Nyathi said detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Homicide acted on received information that the suspect had been sighted at Mushayabande Park, Glen Norah, Harare.

Upon tracking the suspect to the location, police said Mafuwa attempted to flee along with two accomplices.

The detectives pursued the suspect and fired warning shots when Mafuwa continued to run away, prompting officers to shoot him in the shin before apprehending him.

Nyathi said , Jealous Mafuwa is clearing five counts of armed robbery and a murder case.

Details of the cases he is involved in include an incident on July 13, 2025, where Mafuwa and his accomplices allegedly attacked a service station in Dotito.

Nyathi said during the attack, the service station supervisor was shot and killed, a safe was blasted using explosives and USD $2,782 was stolen.

He also said in another case that occurred on May 10, 2024, the suspect and his accomplices are said to have hired a Mushikashika vehicle, a Toyota Probox, from Wadzani Business Centre under the pretext of traveling to Montdore Mine.

Along the way, they allegedly attacked the complainant, robbing him of his valuables, cash, and the vehicle.

Nyathi also said on August 27, 2024, Mafuwa and his associates reportedly attacked 13 complainants at Dahwe San He Chrome Mining Site in Mvurwi.

“The suspects are said to have gotten away with USD $150,000 in cash, 12 cellphones, and a Toyota Hilux single cab vehicle,” Nyathi said.
