THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has suspended two senior officials from Zimbabwe Aquatics for a period of five years, citing instability and governance concerns within the organization.
In a press statement released on Monday, the SRC announced that Mr. Onismo Nhondova and Ms. Zalene Nkomazana have been barred from participating in all forms of aquatic sport administration and activities across the country, with immediate effect.
According to the commission, the decision was made in the national interest and in line with Section 30 of the Sports and Recreation Commission Act.
The move follows what the SRC described as a prolonged period of instability within Zimbabwe Aquatics, particularly affecting the swimming discipline.
“The instability has had a detrimental impact on athletes and key stakeholders,” the statement read.
The SRC said its commitment to restoring stability, integrity, and proper governance within aquatic sports in Zimbabwe.
The statement was signed by Peter Mudzimiri, Acting Director General of the SRC.
