In the facts provided by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe’s, on the 5th of July 2024, the accused person’s father borrowed a pen from the complainant who was alone at home with her younger sister. Their mother had gone to Overspill Shopping Centre.
The accused person’s father later left before returning the pen. The accused person called the complainant to his house purporting that he wanted to give her the pen. When the complainant got to the door the accused person dragged her into the house, slapped her twice on the face and threatened to kill her if she made any noise. He tripped her to the floor, removed her clothes before raping her.
The matter came to light when the complainant’s mother returned home and followed the complainant to the accused person’s home. She found the complainant’s slopes at the door and this made her suspicious. She suddenly barged into the house and found the accused person putting on his trousers whilst the complainant lay half naked on the floor. The complainant’s mother reported the matter to the Police leading to the accused person’s arrest and subsequent conviction and sentencing.
