Beitbridge- Police in Beitbridge have arrested a 46 year old truck driver for raping a 20 year old victim multiple times.
Collette Mupozori of 147 Shashe Crescent New Mabvuku in Harare, was arrested at the Beitbridge Border Post following a tip off from South African Police to their Zimbabwean counterparts that led to the interception of his truck.
The arrest of Mupozori was confirmed by the Officer commanding Beitbridge Police Chief Superintendent Melusi Ncube.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are that the mother of the victim entrusted the accused with transporting the victim to Zimbabwe.
While still in South Africa, the accused turned on the victim raping her several times.Fortunately the victim was alert and recorded one of the incident as she screamed for help and sent the recording to her mother.
The mother subsequently alerted South African Police who in turn notified their Zimbabwean colleagues leading to the interception and arrest of Mupozori.
The accused is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to appear in court soon.
