The police in Limpopo apprehended two foreign male nationals and confiscated dagga valued at around R79,000. The arrests were made during a tactical operation on Friday 7 March 2025, along the N1 road near MOJ Petroleum in Musina.
At approximately 03:20 AM, officers conducted a routine stop and search on two sedan uncovering substantial amount of Dagga. The first vehicle, a white sedan registered in Gauteng, was driven by a 45-year-old foreign national. Upon conducting a thorough search, officers uncovered eleven bags of dagga, weighing a total of 157.8 kg, with an estimated street value of R66,276. The driver was arrested on the spot.
The second vehicle, identified as a grey Ford Focus sedan with Limpopo registration, was driven by a 47-year-old foreign national. Police discovered fourteen bags of dagga along with four suitcases filled with the drug, bringing the total weight to 187.8 kg and an estimated street value of R794,394. This individual was also arrested and faces serious charges related to drug trafficking.
Both vehicles have been confiscated for further inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspects are appeared before the Musina Magistrate’s Court yesterday , where they were charged with dealing and possession of dagga.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, emphasized the significance of this seizure, stating, “We regard this seizure of dagga as a breakthrough as these drugs should have landed in wrong hands. The men and women in blue are committed to combating drug-related crimes across the province.”
