Vhembe Stars Academy (1) 1 Super Strikers (2) 3
HOSTS Vhembe Stars Academy fell at home to Gwanda’s Super Strikers in a game visitors showed character in front of goals.
Poor finishing upfront by Vhembe, whose strikers forgot shooting boots was enemy number one as a brace by Garland Kwazi Moyo at 21 and 40 minutes for Superstrikers sealed the deal.
Experience ruled in the second half when Newman Sianchali, who was coaching in play, netted a third rendering Vhembe’s solitary goal a consolation.
Even then, Vhembe Stars Academy’s Davis Nyamukondiwa’s 34th minute header was fast and furious.
Positioned at the end of a well-taken corner, whose ball spun in its flight, Nyamukondiwa surprised even he birds up above with a header that rose to the roof leaving everyone a spectator.
It gave renewed hope to the hosts who pressed on, played beautiful tiki-taka sets with many completed passes that should have earned them a second.
In the second part Sianchali got in as a sub and scored the third goal for Superstrikers in a move that showed he is seasoned.
He somehow rose from short passes in the area and directed his ball far away from anyone’s reach.
Visitors may have in the first two goals taken advantage of the hosts lack of communication and concentration failing to block crosses that resulted in trouble.
