Vhembe Stars Academy 2-2 Midlands State University FC
VHEMBE Stars Academy continued to drop points in crucial matches after being held to a 2-2 draw by MSU FC on Matchday 27 of the Central Region Soccer League Division One on Saturday.
The Limpopo River side went into the match hoping to secure maximum points, but ultimately had to settle for a point.
Vhembe Stars Academy’s Davies Nyamukondiwa fired a shot in the 23rd minute, but his effort went wide.
Four minutes later, Thabo Mpande also tried his luck, but failed to find the target.
Midlands State University FC’s Mutazu Tinomuziva had an opportunity to break the deadlock in the 35th minute, but his effort went wide.
Three minutes later, Karuva Sean broke the deadlock after capitalising on an error by Vhembe Stars Academy defender Marshall Nhira.
A minute after conceding, Nhira was forced off after picking up an injury .
He was replaced by Lesley Dube.
The two sides went into halftime with MSU FC dominating proceedings and holding a 1-0 lead.
Vhembe Stars Academy came out strongly in the second half.
Denzel Tadyanemandu restored parity in the 55th minute with a wonder back heel goal.
Five minutes after the equaliser, MSU FC’s Maregere Takunda fired a superb free-kick to put his side back in front.
Vhembe Stars Academy refused to give up.
On exactly 90+5 minutes, Peace Makuvaza scored the equaliser after dribbling past the MSU defence.
The 2-2 draw means Vhembe Stars Academy have now recorded three consecutive draws.
The point takes Vhembe Stars Academy’s tally to 22 points.
The Greens remain in the relegation zone despite earning a point at home.
