Vhembe Stars U19 may have left the field with a 1-0 defeat, but their performance at JM Nkomo Polytechnic Stadium on Sunday, 26 October 2025, proved they are a team to watch in the Matabeleland South Division 2 Pool A.
The young side displayed skill, discipline, and tactical awareness, keeping Super Strikers FC on their toes throughout the tightly contested match.
Despite conceding a goal in the 40th minute, Vhembe Stars dominated large portions of the game and created multiple scoring opportunities.
Speaking to Ziyah News Network, team manager Kelvin “Elder” Mahoro praised the players for their determination and teamwork.
“We may have lost 1-0, but the boys showed great character. They dominated significant parts of the game, and their effort made it a tough match for Super Strikers,” Mahoro said.
Mahoro also said that the squad was fully registered and eligible, countering speculation about team compliance.
He noted that even some Super Strikers fans acknowledged Vhembe Stars’ attractive style of play.
“Our players gave their all, and the football was enjoyable to watch. The home fans even cheered for us at times,” he said.
Supporters of the home team agreed.
Mkhulisi Nkiwane, a Super Strikers fan, commended Vhembe Stars for their technical ability and composure.
“I support Super Strikers FC, but I admire how Vhembe Stars U19 play. Their passing is sharp, their movements are intelligent, and their shooting is precise like English teams,” Nkiwane said.
Although the scoreboard didn’t reflect it, Vhembe Stars earned respect from fans, opponents, and coaches alike.
