The Government of Zimbabwe is awake to the need for all stakeholders’ involvement in order to realise the dream of making the country a middle upper income nation by 2030 a reality, Vice President Kembo Mohadi has said.
He made the remarks in a speech read on his behalf by Dr Benson Dube, Permanent Secretary in his office as he addressed dinners at the Public-Private Business Interface Championed by the Government of Zimbabwe and the Vision 2030 Movement at Zebra Hill Top in Beitbridge.
“The business leaders, the entrepreneurs, public and the private sector, students and skilled professionals across all sectors of the economy, we meet to discuss ways in which to enhance our already existing relationship to ensure we achieve an empowered upper middle income economy by 2030”
He emphasised the importance of business in the successful implementation of the country’s economic trajectory hence the Government through the National Development Strategy 1(NDS1) has deliberately prioritised the creation of a conducive environment for business to thrive as they are vital drivers of economic growth, job creation and overall development of Government policies.
VP Mohadi also singled out dialogue among key players in the economy so that the whole country is in sync with the development plan spearheaded by the Second Republic. He urged industry to mentor young professionals so that they can also meaningfully contribute to economy Zimbabwe.
“We request the support of the private sector through mentorship programmes where you nurture, harness ideas and skills of both young people , young professionals, young entrepreneurs and the young innovators so that they contribute to proffering solutions to national challenges and ensure Vision 2030 and beyond agenda is indeed achieved,” he said.
With the future in mind, the VP also urged the young people of Zimbabwe not to be left behind in the current development thrust and approach the Government for land and other empowerment opportunities that are available.
