In an a major twist to the Wicknell Chivhayo saga that has sent tongues wagging , the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (ZACC ) has intervened to turn information into the public domain to potential criminal proceedings. In a statement , ZACC said they are interested in interviewing the three protagonist in the audios in Wicknell Chivhayo , Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu as the audio and letters in the public domain raise criminality issues. “The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC/the Commission) has taken note of a letter purportedly written by Messrs. Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe, to a South African based company, REN-form, demanding payment and resolution of a contractual dispute. The Commission has also noted audios allegedly attributed to Mr. Wicknell Chivhayo.” Of note is the fact that ZACC has dug a long forgotten case on the Presidential Goats scheme allegedly abused by the likes of Chimombe and Mpofu who were at the fore front of championing the scheme
“The letter and recordings raise issues related to money laundering and abuse of office that fall within the purview of the Commission. Consequently, ZACC will be interviewing Messrs. Mpofu, Chimombe, and Chivhayo to gather more information and gain clarity on the matters highlighted. The Commission is also keen to interview .Messrs Mpofu and Chimombe on the Presidential Goats Scheme mentioned in one of the audios. “Whilst some have celebrated the involvement of ZACC in the case in which Chivhayo is heard bragging that he has captured the Government to his advantage, questions have emerged over why ZACC has taken this long to investigate Chivhayo’s source of wealth. The nation awaits to see what will become of this go at Chivhayo who many have long perceived to be involved in murky deals and has mocked ZACC previously claiming his ‘business dealings are squeaky clean.
