The Director of Information and Publicity in the ruling ZANU PF party, Cde Farai Muroiwa Marapira, has lambasted political activist Hopewell Chin’ono for suggesting the formation of a “Government in Exile”. Marapira described the idea as an “absurdity” stemming from Chin’ono’s alleged lack of knowledge and understanding of democratic processes in Zimbabwe.

Marapira emphasized that Zimbabwe has consistently held democratic elections every five years, with ZANU PF being democratically elected into power by the majority in previous polls. He accused Chin’ono and his “cabal of pseudo-democrats” of misusing the term democracy for their own ends, rather than understanding its true meaning.

The ZANU PF Director also dismissed the concept of a Government in Exile as legally untenable and likened it to a money-making scheme. He reiterated that Zimbabwe’s democratic elections have always been held in accordance with the country’s laws and constitution.

Marapira’s comments come after Chin’ono made headlines recently by suggesting the formation of a Government in Exile. The ZANU PF Director’s response highlights the party’s confidence in Zimbabwe’s democratic processes and its rejection of what it sees as attempts to undermine the country’s sovereignty.
