The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has urged consumers to prioritise their safety in the midst of power outrages being experienced across the country to prevent electrical accidents in a home.
ZETDC) persuaded its customers to ensure that they switch off all appliances immediately after a power outage to prevent electrical accidents in a home.
“Unplug laptops, computers or any items that are on chargers after a power outage to protect them from surges upon restoration, switch off all appliances which could start a fire if the power is restored when no one is around”
The power utility also advised people to exercise caution when using alternative sources like candles, lanterns and gas stoves by switching them off when they are not in use and urging customers to, “always keep an eye on the condition of the electrical wiring and plugs on all your electrical appliances and get a professional electrician to do your servicing and repair works to avoid electrical accidents.
