The Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court has convicted Leon Mawadza, a 57 year old security guard from Amaveni, Kwekwe, for stealing 80 litres of diesel and misusing a Zibagwe Rural District Council ambulance.
He was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment and fined USD350, payable by June 30, 2025.
Circumstances are that Mawadza unlawfully used the ambulance without permission and was caught after the driver noticed discrepancies.
Mawadza admitted to falsifying the logbook and siphoning diesel from a parked truck.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), warned and emphasized to the public that public property should not be used for personal purposes saying, “Let this be a warning, public property is not for personal use. Accountability matters.”
