The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has suspended referees Lawrence Zimondi and Rumeck Edgar from officiating any remaining Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches this season, following findings of misconduct during a high-profile fixture earlier this month.

In a statement dated October 30 ZIFA Media and Communications, the association said the two match officials have been sanctioned from matchday 31 until the end of the 2025 PSL season.

This follows a review of their performance during the match between Dynamos FC and Ngezi Platinum Stars FC, played at Rufaro Stadium on 4 October 2025.

“The decision follows reports from the match commissioner regarding the Premier Soccer League fixture… The reports highlighted incorrect decisions that materially affected the outcome of the match,” ZIFA said.

After reviewing the reports, ZIFA said both Zimondi and Edgar had violated Article 22 of the Referees’ Code of Conduct.

“In line with the Association’s commitment to uphold integrity, professionalism and fairness in all competitions, the two referees have been suspended for the remainder of the 2025 PSL season,” ZIFA said.

ZIFA said the decision reflects its ongoing effort to promote accountability within Zimbabwean football and ensure that officiating upholds the highest standards.

“ZIFA remains steadfast in promoting accountability and ensuring that the standard of officiating meets the highest expectations of the game,” ZIFA said.
