Harare– The Minister of Information Communication Technology and Courier Services has expressed gratitude to Huawei Technologies for facilitating the training of Government employees in cyber security in a partnership with the Government of Zimbabwe.
In her speech at the graduation ceremony of the trainees, ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera said the partnership with Huawei is invaluable as it enhances Government operations in an ever threatening cyber space.
“The collaboration between the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services and Huawei Technologies represents a pivotal step in our national strategy to foster cyber resilience. This partnership has provided our Government Officials with the essential skills and knowledge required to protect our information systems, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our national data,” said Minister Mavetera.
She applauded the cutting-edge expertise and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the country by the company which will assist to secure its digital future.

“Zimbabwe is not immune to cyber security threats with social media accounts of prominent individuals and entities hacked in the past. Recently we were informed of allegations that a leading Zimbabwean bank had its systems hacked with the hackers demanding ransom lest the hackers leak operational and customer information.”
The Minister committed that her Ministry will continue to organise such kind of trainings to keep up with the ever changing ICT threats and called upon graduands to effectively use the knowledge garnered.
“As you return to your respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies, I urge you to apply what you have learned with diligence and to continue seeking knowledge in this ever-changing field.”
“This training is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in your professional journey. Cyber security is dynamic and complex, it requires constant vigilance, continuous learning, and a collaborative approach. As the defenders of our digital infrastructure, you must work together, share knowledge, and support one another to build a resilient and secure digital environment for all Zimbabweans. The Ministry will continue to organise such trainings so that you keep abreast with the ever-changing technological developments, she added.
