As the country continues the increasing use of the local unit, the gold backed ZiG, the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council, (ZIMSEC) has announced that parents are able to pay for their children’s examination fees in ZiG or any of the currencies used in the country. The examination body, assured parents that the pegging of the fees in USD was for accounting purposes which does not mean the fees are exclusive to the Greenback.
” Fees are pegged in USD, however, they are accepted in the currency which the parents or guardians are comfortable with. parents who wish to make payment in USD or Rand are able to do so until the registration closes. Those who would want to pay in ZiG will use the rate communicated herein,” indicated the Examination Board
According to ZIMSEC, it will be accepting a ZiG rate of 13.52 to the USD during the window of 10 May to 17 May 2024 and the aforementioned rate will apply during this period.
