THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) in Matabeleland South Province will hold a Family Week programme from April 6 to 12, 2026, a senior official has said.
In an interview with Ziyah News Network on Monday the Provincial Public Relations Officer Tikiti Terence announced the development.
The programme will be conducted at prisons across the province, with relatives, friends, churches, artists and other social groups invited to visit inmates during the period.
Tikiti said visiting hours will run daily from 0900hrs to 1500hrs.
“Adults are required to bring national identity documents, while children will also be allowed entry,” he said.
The initiative is part of ZPCS efforts to facilitate inmate rehabilitation through increased family and community support.
The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Family Week is an annual, week-long initiative designed to foster rehabilitation and reintegration by strengthening bonds between inmates and their loved ones.
Introduced in 2017, the program allows inmates to spend extended time with family, friends, and community members in a relaxed setting.
