For his uncontrolled sexual urge and ruthlessness behaviour, a 29 year old Rutenga will spend 15 years behind bars for raping a 14 year old. The man was convicted by Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court on charges of rape.
It is the state’s case that on the 24th of April 2024 around 19:00, the victim was sent on a errand by her mother at the accused’s home. The accused grabbed the complainant’s hand and dragged her inside his house. The complainant screamed but the accused closed her mouth with his hand. He locked the door and threatened to kill her if she continued screaming. He dragged her to the bedroom where he pushed her onto the bed before raping her. He ordered her to leave soon after committing the offence. The matter came to light when the complainant confided in a neighbour the following day leading to the arrest of the accused person.
The accused is a friend to the 14 year old complainant’s family, a feature of most rape cases involving minors where the perpetrator is more often than not someone close to the victim.
