A 20 year old man from Epworth narrowly escaped a prison term after being convicted of having sexual relations with a young girl. He was arrested and sentenced to 30 months imprisonment of which 15 months were suspended for 5 years.

The remaining 15 months were suspended on condition that the accused person completes 525 hours of community service. He was convicted and sentenced by Epworth Magistrate Court

The NPA reports that the accused person was in a relationship with the 16 year old girl and had sexual relations with the complainant at his home in Epworth

 The matter came to light when the complainants’ parents took her from the accused’s home. She confided in her mother that the she had sexual relations with the accused person.

A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.
