The much-hyped showdown at Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s UFIC Basilica turned into a spectacle of embarrassment yesterday afternoon, as 24 prophets and sangomas stepped forward to compete in an audacious challenge for a US$1 million prize.
In a twist that many are calling “prophetic failure,” none managed to guess the six items hidden in the prophet’s pocket.
The event attracted a throng of spectators eager to witness what many believed would be a display of supernatural prowess.
Prophet Makandiwa, known for his daring challenges, invited fellow spiritual leaders to participate in what was seen as a test of their prophetic skills.
However, when the moment of truth arrived, shock swept through the crowd as one by one, each participant fell short.
The hidden items including binoculars, a thermometer, an antenna, a test kit, a mouth freshener, and a yellow object were revealed, leaving participants and onlookers questioning the legitimacy of their abilities.
Critics are now questioning whether the so-called prophets and sangomas of Zimbabwe can truly deliver on their claims of divine insight, or if they are merely exploiting the faith of their followers.
This challenge has sparked debates about the state of prophecy in Zimbabwe, calling into question the authenticity of those who claim to possess divine powers.
Of note, none of the prominent prophets showed up for the much hyped event with onlookers intimating they feared humiliation and subsequent loss of followers.
