The Zimbabwe Republic Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on Sunday at a business premise on Bristol Road in Workington, Harare, as confirmed on their official X account.

According to the police, three unknown suspects disarmed and attacked a security guard on duty before breaking into the offices.

The robbers used an iron bar and hammer to break open a metal safe and stole US$9,000 in cash.

 “The suspects broke open a metal safe using the tools they were carrying and stole USD 9,000 in cash,” police reported.

A shootout ensued when a private security company’s rapid response team arrived on the scene. However, the suspects quickly overpowered the team and stole their vehicle.

Authorities acted swiftly to track the stolen vehicle, recovering it in Rugare, a suburb in Harare.

 “Police in Harare are investigating a case of robbery which occurred on 26/01/25 at business premise along Bristol Road, Workington, Harare,” the police statement added.

The investigation into the incident continues as the police work to identify the suspects involved.
