THE Beitbridge community has pooled donations and provide support to four families affected by a fire that destroyed the rented Aram Muleya residence along Acacia Drive in Vhembe View suburb.

The donations are being send to Mr and Mrs Gumede’s home where the families affected by the fire have been given shelter since the Monday tragedy.

Former Councillor and Beitbridge resident Patricia Ndlovu led the initiative together with Ward Two Councillor Portia Shumba.

The other support of the humanitarian initiative is from Megamart and African apostolic Church Pastor Esau Muchokoto.

Contributed Items include cartons of sugar, salt, sanitary pads, peanut butter, packs of macaroni, baked beans, baking flower, kitchen utensils like pots, spoons, tissue rolls, cooking oil, rice, and blankets.

Speaking to Ziyah News Network Ndlovu said it was important for all to come together and assist making Beitbridge a safe space everyone.

“I feel like Beitbridge is a home where everyone is supposed to feel safe and the donations are suppose to comfort the affected families during this difficult phase. We encourage Beitbridge residents to come together and donate to the affected families.”

“I want to thank the community and local residents at Vhembe View coming together helping out the victims which brings solace to them during this difficult time.” said Shumba.

“I want to thank the community and stake holders who stood with us during this difficult time, we appreciate the support and love the community showed to us ” said one of the victims, Kerensia Gwara.

The families were left without anything including essential identification papers when tye fire believed to have been a result of an electrical fault razed down seven of the eight-roomed house.

Although the Beitbridge Fire Brigade managed to put out the fire, there had been extensive damages to the house and some victims lost all their belongings.

The community’s generosity has brought hope to those affected, demonstrating the power of unity in the face of adversity.
