Two men Quinton Sibanda (18) and Kamuelo Moyo (20), appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of 21-year-old Marvelous Tlou.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on May 9, 2025.Sibanda and Moyo saw the now deceased, Marvelous Tlou, a female adult (21) who was walking along a bushy path proceeding to Whunga Business Centre, Beitbridge where she was going to attend a church service, and followed her.
The two men reportedly pretended to be heading to the same church service.
After walking for about 3 kilometers, Sibanda produced an Okapi knife and threatened to stab the now-deceased to death and he forcibly took the now deceased’s cellphone. Moyo raped the now deceased while Sibanda person held her down.
The now-deceased threatened to report the matter since she knew the accused persons.
The duo murdered Tlou by strangulation and multiple stab wounds.
The matter came to light when the accused persons confided in the informant who made a police report. They told him of their plans to escape to South Africa prompting a police investigation. The police report led to their arrest.
The suspects were remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in court again on May 27, 2025. They have been advised to seek bail through the High Court.
