Khulekhani Dube, a 27-year-old man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for attempted murder by the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court.

The violent incident took place at the Malibeng Business Centre. According to National Prosecuting Authority, Dube after a dispute with the victim’s friend, turned his aggression towards 17-year-old January Ngwenya. Without warning Dube struck Ngwenya three times on the head with a tyre lever, leaving him unconscious and severely injured.

The attack followed Ngwenya’s attempt to de-escalate a brewing fight between Dube and his friend. After the assault, Dube fled the scene, leaving the injured youth behind.

Ngwenya was rushed to the hospital, and the incident was reported to the police, leading to Dube’s arrest.

“This case underscores the devastating consequences of unchecked violence and the importance of peaceful conflict resolution.”
