A 41 year old man from Beitbridge was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the aggravated indecent assault of a 13 year old boy. He was convicted by the Beitbridge Magistrate Court.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the offender violated the 13 year-old complainant (Grade 5 pupil) who is his girlfriend’s son by inserting his manhood in his anus.
The incident took place on the 26th of February 2025 at around midnight. The offender found the complainant sleeping in the company of his brother before he undressed and violated him.
The complainant was awaken by the offender’s movements and tried to scream but the offender gagged him with his hands. The offender fled the scene after the act.
The matter came to light when the complainant’s brother imitated the sounds made by the complainant in the presence of an informant prompting the informant to investigate. The informant advised the complainant’s mother who made a police report.
The offender was sentenced to an effective 18 years imprisonment, sending a clear message about the seriousness of such offenses in the community.
