The Municipality of Beitbridge (MOB) has said it is going to repossess undeveloped residential stands allocated to people who may have taken long to build.
In a Notice issued July 16 2025 the MOB said the owners of the listed undeveloped stands layout GC 371 Madinginye Township would be repossessed in terms of section 152 (2)a of the Urban Councils Act ( Chapter 29:25).
Section 152(2)(a) of the Urban Councils Act [Chapter 29:15] of Zimbabwe addresses the alienation of council land by specifying that a personal allowance shall not be paid to a councillor for a period of leave of absence from the council that exceeds a continuous period of thirty days.
This provision is found under the section concerning pensions and other benefits for councillors and is part of the broader regulations governing council finances and allowances.
“If owners are still interested they can report the MOB offices during working hours on or before the 6th of August 2025.” said the notice
MOB said failure to contact them within the stipulated time frame will result in repossession of the stands it listed obtainable at their offices.
