A Beitbridge resident of the Kwalu Suburb identified as Makina died from multiple gunshot wounds and his wife Priscillah was seriously injured in a violent post midnight robbery at their home.
Makinah’s bullet riddled body was taken to the Beitbridge District Hospital where his wife is admitted.
In between sobs and partial breakdowns Priscillah narrated to her pastor, in the presence of Ziyah News Network during the visiting hour, how the couple tried to fend off the robbers numbering about four or more.
Their raid just after 1am stripped her of cash and the life of her loved husband.
She was the first to be hit and when, like a mother, she retreated to protect her child, they shot her husband thrice, twice in the body and once in the head in what is perhaps one of the worst attacks of late.
Armed robberies have become one too many in the sprawling town of Beitbridge and its precincts.
“I heard noise on the door and woke up to investigate. My husband who had arrived at about 11 and would soon leave, was asleep. I went to the door and heard people forcing. He joined me and we formed a human barricade but could not withhold and they forced open the door,” she said.
Then bang, she was hit first and ran to her child only to find her husband in a pool of blood and down.
Priscillah said one of the assailants said “Sorry” but firmly maintained his demand for cash and insisted on US dollars demands. She was not aware how much she handed them but a lot.
