POLICE in Beitbridge have maintained heavy presence on traditionally violent hotspots ahead of the transition from 2025 to 2026.

New-year celebrations are univsrsal but while others celebrate some turn violent and in some cases murdsrs have been witnessed in Beitbridge.
At Lutumba, a known hotspot, businessmen said police visited every outlet advising them to adhere to timetables.
“They just advised us to close at scheduled times and not extend by a minute. They were polite but serious,” said one shopkeeper.
Shoppers at Lutumba confirmed there was heavy police presence.
At Christmas Lutumba was rocked by violence and a number of arrests have since been made.
Violence was widespread, and so was police reaction which resulted in several arrests.
The Beitbridge District Hospital was kept busy while the courts handled several new cases mostly related to violence.
