The Commissioner General of Police, Stephen Mutamba, made a courtesy call  on the Prosecutor General, Justice Loyce Matanda-Moyo yesterday , as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

Key discussions during the meeting included strategies to strengthen collaboration and coordination to expedite case processing, ensuring timely justice for victims and the accused alike.

“ Identifying training needs for both institutions. Advancing forensic investigations, with the Commissioner General expressing appreciation for the Prosecutor General’s initiative in sourcing equipment for the police forensic lab initiative. Addressing mental health cases, ensuring effective handling through inter-agency cooperation,” read part of the statement by NPA.

Furthermore, the officials agreed to institutionalize monthly meetings to facilitate continuous dialogue and engagement between the ZRP and the NPA, thereby ensuring an ongoing commitment to collaborative justice efforts.

The strengthened partnership between the ZRP and the NPA is expected to lead to more efficient justice delivery, reduced case backlogs, and better outcomes for those affected by crime in Zimbabwe.
