HEAVY downpours are threatening to wash away, for the second year running, the Independence celebrations at Maphisa Growth Point in Kezi where thousands of people are already soaked.
The skies opened up at 9:20am just as hundreds of government officials and ordinaty people arrived ahead of proceedings including the national address by President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the newly built Maphisa Stadium.
Last year Independence celebrations at Nembudziya Growth Point in Gokwe, Midlands, were spoilt by a heavy downpour which even destroyed newly built infrastructure.
