The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sanctioned Zambia, Kenya, and Morocco for breaching CAF regulations during the ongoing CHAN 2024 tournament. All fines are to be paid within 60 days.

Zambia was fined USD 5,000 for violating CAF’s media regulations during the Match Day 1 press conference against DR Congo.

“The CAF Disciplinary Board charged the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) with breaching CAF’s Media Regulations during the Match Day-1 Press Conference ahead of their TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) match against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Zambia failed to present the head coach at the mandatory press conference. The Disciplinary Board found Zambia guilty and imposed a fine of USD 5,000,” the CAF statement read.

Kenya was also found guilty of multiple safety and security breaches during the CHAN 2024 clash against Morocco. The host nation has been fined USD 50,000. CAF warned that continued failure to meet safety and security standards may lead to the relocation of Kenya’s national matches to an alternative venue.

Morocco received a fine of USD 5,000 for inappropriate conduct by its players during the Morocco-Kenya match. However, USD 2,500 of the fine has been suspended, provided no similar offences occur for the remainder of CHAN 2024.
