Turmoil in the opposition Citizens for Coalition for Change (CCC) party continues to hog the political limelight in Zimbabwean politics. Acting President for one the factions claiming to be the real CCC Welshman Ncube, has suspended self proclaimed Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu.
Tshabangu has been at the centre of the opposition outfit’s brawls instituting a series of recalls of MPs which led to the quilting of CCC founding leader Nelson Chsmisa claiming infiltration by the ruling ZANU PF.
Tshabangu made recent senior appointments constituting what he called a local government caucus to be headed by the Mayor of Harare Jacob Mafume.
However the Welshman Ncube factions moved in swiftly declaring the appointments a nullify snd seeking an urgent interdict in the courts which they were granted.
Armed with that interdiction, Ncube has moved in to suspend Tshabsngu in a letter through his Spokesperson Kuraone Chihwayi.
“Acting in terms of Article 9.1.2.3 of the CCC Constitution the Acting President Prof Welshman Ncube has suspended Sengezo Tshabangu with immediate effect. This decision was made in light of Tshabangu’s actions, which were deemed to be in contravention of the party’s constitution,”read the press statement.
“Tshabangu’s suspension is pending a disciplinary hearing, which will be conducted in accordance with the party’s internal processes.”
It remains to be seen if Tshabangu will back down from his decisions and if he will survive the so called disciplinary hearing. Thus far he has outfitted all the CCC factions enjoying court victories time and again.
Exiled political analyst and former ZANU PF politiburo member Professor Jonathan Moyo has waded into the latest CCC fight launching a scathing attack on Ncube.
“This recklessness is mind blogging for anyone familiar with this case. Just what exactly is Prof Welshman Ncube trying to achieve by being this excitable like an infant who has been given a lollipop for the first time? In fact, the court order that Prof Ncube and his faction won yesterday is not a lollipop. Not at all. It very well be a deadly a boomerang, wrote Professor Moyo.
He went on to brand the court order granted to Ncube and Co as flawed and unimplementable.
“The order is so controversial and so seriously flawed that it needs sober and cool heads to understand before deciding what to do with it. In any event, the order is unimplementable. It does not order Parliament or the Speaker to do anything whatsoever.”
He also castigated Ncube’s faction for suspending an individual they said doesn’t exist in the constitution and structure upon which the party is claiming to be premised on, that is the 2019 Gweru congress structure when it was still the MDC T.
