The African Nations Championship CHAN) draw done in Nairobi, yesterday delivered thrilling fixtures for the tournament set to kick start in August 2025.
One of the hosts nation Kenya has been seeded in Group A, a pool packed with past champions and quality teams likecMorocco, DR Congo, Angola and Zambia. Group A can easily be touted the Group of death as it clearly one of the most competitive on paper.
The co-host nation Tanzania, have been seeded in Group B alongside Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Central Republic of Africa.
Uganda were seeded as the hosts in Group C alongside, Guinea, Niger, qualifier 1 and qualifier 2 making the pool C something of unknown quantity. Two teams are set join their places at the finals, with Algeria, Comoros, Gambia, Malawi, Egypt, South Africa and Gabon to take part in a qualification campaign to fill the slots in the draw for Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 who will join Group C.
Group D will be a four team pool, which consists of the defending champions Senegal, Congo, Sudan and Nigeria.
Most importantly, Chan will be played in East Africa for the first time since Rwanda were hosts in 2016.
The CHAN tournament is a platform where only players who play in African domestic leagues showcase their talents against each other as part of the broader developmental plan by CAF.
