Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs secured a 2-1 victory against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, setting up a Soweto derby final scheduled to place on May 10.
Amakhosi ‘s went behind on the stroke of half time when Tebogo Mokwena broke the deadlock with a stunning free kick on the 45th minute. Amakhosi’s Wandile Duba scored an equaliser before Ashley Dupreez scored the winning goal to send the Kaizer Chiefs fans into delirium.
Sundowns’ failure to manage the game means their hopes of winning a treble are over.
Meanwhile, defending champions Orlando Pirates secured a 1-0 victory against Washington Arubi ‘s Marumo Gallants.
Kabelo Dlamini scored the only goal of the match, securing a Nedbank Cup final spot for the Buccaneers and a date with perennial rivals, Kaiser Chiefs.
