Rising comedian Leeroy Tadiwanashe Zavare, popularly known as Comic Elder, has struck gold after receiving two massive gifts in one week a brand-new Ford Raptor from President Emmerson Mnangagwa and a US$150,000 cash reward from businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
The comedian, known for his witty skits and infectious humour, caught the attention of the nation and the President himself after making Mnangagwa laugh during a recent public event.
In a social media post on Monday morning, Chivayo announced that he was gifting Comic Elder the money as a “small token of appreciation” for his comedic talent and the rare feat of making the Head of State laugh.
“For a young comedian to make the President of the Republic laugh is never a small achievement,” wrote Chivayo.
Chivayo went on to praise President Mnangagwa for recognising individuals from different walks of life including traditional leaders, churches, entrepreneurs, artists, the elderly, and the youth under his mantra of “leaving no one and no place behind.”
He instructed Comic Elder to meet his lawyer, Sikhumbuzo Mpofu, to collect the US$150,000, saying the money could either be transferred directly into the comedian’s account or used to purchase a house in his name.
“As a small token of my appreciation for your hard work and comical talent, please go and see my lawyer on Friday and collect US$150,000 in cash so you can buy yourself a decent house in any area of your choice,” Chivayo said.
The gesture follows President Mnangagwa’s own gift a Ford Raptor car, presented to the comedian just days earlier, reportedly for brightening up the President’s mood with his humour.
Comic Elder joins a growing list of artists, influencers, and public figures who have received luxury gifts and financial support from both Mnangagwa and Chivayo in recognition of their contributions to entertainment and national pride.
The double windfall has sparked excitement and admiration across social media, with fans congratulating Comic Elder for his success and for putting laughter on the national map.
