A Beitbridge woman has been granted a 5 year protection order after telling the court that her husband of 32 years allegedly threatened her and wanted to sell their house due to ongoing domestic disputes.

Melta Manziro appeared before Magistrate Mbonisi Kaweni seeking protection against her husband, Robert Nzvivamanzi, claiming he had been sending her threatening messages to marry another wife and sell their house.

She told the court that the couple had developed serious misunderstandings despite having agreed on rules to manage their relationship.

According to Manziro, her husband had agreed to visit the family home from Monday to Friday while spending weekends away.

However, she said he later began returning home late and without informing her and threatens to sell the house.

The couple has been married for 32 years and has three children.

In his response, Nzvivamanzi did not oppose the application.

He told the court he had no intention of selling the matrimonial home but requested permission to occupy two rooms in the house.

He said that following their marital disputes, he had moved into a spare bedroom.

However, he told the court that one day upon returning from work, he found the room occupied by a tenant and had moved away.

After hearing both parties, Kaweni granted the protection order and barred Nzvivamanzi from evicting or forcing Manziro out of the family home at 2834 Dulibadzimo for a period of five years.
